Over the last couple of years we’ve discovered something amazing – all over New England, there are fantastic local breweries located right next to kids play areas! We love visiting breweries and have found that most are very kid friendly. It’s a recipe for the perfect day – take the kids out to play, wear them out, then take the parents out for a little liquid treat.

CELLUCCI PARK // MEDUSA BREWING & GROUND EFFECT BREWING
Hudson, Massachusetts
Cellucci Park is tucked away right in downtown Hudson, Massachusetts. We go for the splash pad, but there’s also a playground, skate park, and gazebo with grassy field. It’s not a huge park but it’s great in the summer – my girls absolutely love running through the splash pad on those hot days and it’s easy to keep an eye on everyone.
Medusa Brewing is just a parking lot away from Cellucci Park. They have a cozy, BYOF taproom, a nice variety of beers, and last summer they launched their outdoor beer garden complete with cornhole, music, and giant Jenga. As they boast on their website: “Feel free to treat your visit like a picnic to the park, but with beer!”
Ground Effect is a half mile down the road from Cellucci Park in a fairly plain looking cement building. However, once you walk inside you’ll find funky artwork on the walls, wooden community tables and views of the brewing process. On the weekends they have live music and rotating selection of food trucks.
WELLS HARBOR PARK // HIDDEN COVE BREWERY
Wells, Maine
Wells Harbor Park is a great area with a playground, lots of green space, and gazebo overlooking the harbor. In the summer, the Wells Library has story time for toddlers in the gazebo and live bands perform on Saturday nights.
Hidden Cove Brewery is one of our go-to spots in Wells when we want to get out of the house and grab a drink with the kids in tow. There is plenty of room to let the them roam around and games are available including shuffle board, large Connect-Four, and pinball machines. It’s BYOF and has a great assortment of beers, including the Jali which is “fermented in Herradora Tequila barrels with charred jalapenos, dried apricots and agave nectar”. Be ready, it definitely has a kick!
Seacoast Pizza is our favorite pizza joint in Wells and right around the corner from Hidden Cove. During the summer they are very busy so call ahead and expect to wait about an hour to pick it up.
BOBO’S INDOOR PLAYGROUND // WHITE BIRCH BREWING
Nashua, New Hampshire
When we moved to Groton, we needed to find a new favorite indoor playground for the girls. After a few flops, we discovered Bobo’s Indoor Playground and have been regulars ever since. It’s a fun spot filled with large blow up structures, a baby area, climbing wall and more.
When I visited White Birch Brewing, I thought this place was amazing. Guests had dogs lazing at their feet, board games were out to play, and a full flight of fruit beers was available (my favorite!). It is BYOF so we picked up subs from a nearby shop and enjoyed an afternoon of beer and good company.
